It took me 60 years to gain all this extra weight. In the last 45 years I have been yo - yoing on so many diets that altogether I literally have gained and lost and gain over 600lbs in totaling the ups and downs.
I have finally made up my mind that I'm not going to do anything crazy to loose weight anymore. I know this is going to take at least 2+ years to get near to a healthy goal. This time I have chosen to "Keep moving forward". I'm taking small goals at a time. I'm only doing small amount of exercise so I don't hurt myself so I CAN keep moving forward.
Though slow, I do see the weight coming off! I'm starting to feel a little better going up and down stairs. I no longer need a cane to do that. I am finally seeing progress and I know in my heart that this time with God' s help and the help of all of my new friends in SparkPeople that I'm going to make it and succeed and become healthy. We Are the temple of the Holy Ghost and I know that I'm finally doing what God wants me to do and be.
Small changes every week Keep drinking water Keep moving Add something new each week Record your food Plan ahead for special occasions. Here are a couple of examples. you can use or not. I was asked to bring something to a bridal shower today ....a dessert....well I want to eat it too.....so bringing a light sponge cake with a mixture of strawberries and blackberries, no sugar on it, not sauce, no sweetner. Having cake there and also let people put on how much fruit they want. I will eat that instead of something ooey and gooey that somebody else brings.
Also delaying my supper. Just having yogurt before I go, because there will be a supper at 7 p.m. and I want to eat that too, I can pick and choose from what is there, trying to pick the foods closest to "clean" and away from sauces.
Thinking ahead, I already went for a walk this afternoon the longest I walked since I broke my ankle. I think it was only 1.7 km. Working my way back up the 5 K I used to do.
Hope this helps. We all want to succeed and we can help each other out! 2363 days ago
QUENNEVILLE Slow and steady does win the race. I'm with you all on trying to stop the yo yo habit and find what works - not worry so much about how to do but - just do it! We all know the answer - eat less and exercise more. So much easier said than done, but I know we can all do it with each other's support! 2392 days ago
Your story mimics mine quite a bit and you are approaching it the correct way. Don't worry about the speed of your exercise. I learned from a friend today that "Slow motion is better than no motion"! You small goals is the way to go. I tried every diet plan on earth mostly to no avail. Slow and steady is the way to go. Congrats on a great start! 2394 days ago
I am so proud of you.!!!! You did amazing this week. I think all the crazy things I did in the last ten years damaged me more than helped. Detox waters and cheese, protein shakes and raw veggies and trying not to eat until I felt like passing out hungry. CRAZY! ( Now my weight is coming off very slow but I am like you I am determined) I don't really put too much president on that SCALE thing. I am happy to see it go down but I am more ESTATIC to feel healthier than I have in three or four years. Making small changes every week has helped me. I got real off on logging my food so I need to get back to that. Keep up the good work. Hugs and Prayers Constance / Creativeheart5 2394 days ago
