Challenge Following the Rainless Run

Saturday, May 03, 2014

The rain held off until my running group had made it the 8.44 mile route. Believe it or not, I did not feel one drop until less than a quarter mile back and as I slipped my key in to unlock my car door, I heard the first thunder of the day. What luck!

After drinking a bit of coffee with my running group, I went to the Y, foam rolled, and showered, and headed off to my favorite Weight Watcher meeting at 10 am. The topic today was plateaus. Very interesting. Much of it, especially the part about tracking carefully and being diligent, is very relevant to a maintainer who is gradually gaining a few tenths of a pound here and there.

I have not been doing much tracking recently, but I know I can and I know that works for me. I'm going to try another week or two to see if I can get back without it. I feel so much more "normal" when I don't track, but if it takes tracking for me to maintain, believe me I'll do it. My 86 year old mom will be here from Tucson starting next week for a visit and I'm not sure how long she'll stay. It will be good to see her. Hoping I can feed her well and healthy without starving her, and that it will help me. You know, I want to be a good role model for family. It may be a challenge, but time will tell. With the blessing of the rainless run, I feel ready to take it on!!

We planned it so we got our walk in today too without rain. Glad the rain is gone, supposed to be gorgeous first half of the week.
I will always track my food, it helps me stay focused and not eat too much. But, that's my preference, and I have a lot more to lose. Others on here who maintain say it works for them to track.
Enjoy your visit with your Mom and have a great week!

"Whatever it takes"... and it takes different things for different folks. Feeling "normal" is important. But I know that "not tracking" leads to eating that is above "normal"... so I continue to track, because I want to have the energy to live that active lifestyle.

You are an excellent role model for your family -- have to say your comments on my bacon blog (a recurrent moan) made me realize how serious your DH's health problems have been. Certainly would help motivate me also to keep on keeping on!!
