Heat And I Don't Get Along!

Wednesday, April 30, 2014

Went for my hour long walk already and it was already starting to get hot at around 7:30. It's now almost 9am and it's getting even hotter. Some parts of the bay area are supposed to hit 100 degrees today and I sure hope we aren't one of those areas! We were going to go to the gym last night but honestly I was feeling exhausted and burnt out from it being so hot yesterday as well. For some reason heat and I don't mix well at all. I'm left feeling drained, tired, exhausted, weak, sluggish, extremely hot and red faced, and sweating just sitting there. I was like that when I was bigger but thought it was due to my size but here I am at 164 pounds and still have the same effect. Heat and I don't get along and never have. I'm hoping if I drink some more water it will help but that often leaves my stomach feeling like a sloshing bucket lol. We're going to the gym tonight and hopefully they won't be as busy since it's so nice out maybe some gym goers will be taking their exercise outside. I noticed a lot of the women who go to the gym go strictly for the massage chairs, red light therapy, and the tanning beds that they offer for black card members.... takes up a lot of the parking and aren't even there to work out. I've also noticed since the gym is so close to a BART station I have a hunch that people are using the gym parking lot to park and walk to BART as opposed to using BART paid parking. If that is true something should be done but don't think there's anything that can be done to solve the problem.

It's hot today in southern cali too. Left at 6a.m. this morning and it already felt stuffy out. I couldn't believe it. Thank goodness I got my jog in that early because now it's windy and hot out. When it's hot you sweat more though and burn more calories so I usually use that as motivation to get me going on warm days like this.
You've done so great though so you're allowed to have sluggish days and take a break every so often :D

Ooooooh, I hope it cools off! I too am not a heat lover. Especially if you toss in a little humidity - but even if you don't, I still prefer it in the 70-80 range. I can even feel that water sloshing around in your stomach (I do that too)!

I hear your frustrations with the gym parking. I have the same thing here with the Y - the lot is always full and I am constantly parking in the overflow lot a block away. I don't mind the extra walk, but when I leave at night and I am one of the only people parked over there it can get a little uncomfortable! Hope they figure out the situation.

Hang in there, the heat will break and you didn't let it conquer you!!!

I used to have a terrible problem with heat - because while my face sweated, the rest of my body did not! I somehow "cured" it by going into a sauna, and now I sweat all over! But do be careful - heat exhaustion is marked by lots of the symptoms you have. Better to stay safe and use the gym!
