Back from our trip to Maryland, and we had a good time. DGD was good, as was DD. We enjoyed visiting the Baltimore Zoo, and getting a tour of Towson University where my niece attends college. We also rode the Metro into Washington DC, walked around the mall and enjoyed the beautiful weather.

Today has been an ok day so far. DGD doesn't want to take a nap, so she's upstairs whining. BUT, she will get over it. The sun is shining here, and we will go outside after her nap and plant the new raspberry bushes and the blueberry plant. It's still a little early to plant these, but I am so anxious!

I also had an epiphany this weekend. Family history says that I will be a diabetic at some point in my life, and I found out this weekend that my sister is now an insulin depended diabetic. This happened much earlier to her than to my Mom, but my sister lives the same type of lifestyle that my Mom did. I am so glad I changed my lifestyle, and am more determined than ever now to be healthy forever. I am re-evaluating my lifestyle, and will make more changes for my continued health!

Mantra:

I am the only one who can do this for myself.
I make the choice of what I put in my mouth.
I make the choice to exercise daily.
I make the choice to have a positive frame of mind.
I make the choice to be healthy!

Goals for today:
~ read my mantra
~ 80 oz water
~ 17,000 steps
~ 25 flights of stairs
~ keep an open mind
~ journal every bite
~ smile at least once an hour
~ learn something new and remember what I learned
~ eat a fruit or vegetable with every meal and as one snack today
~ laugh out loud today
~ focus on this lifestyle I have chosen for myself and don't sweat the small stuff

I know you are continuing to get your steps -- you are so active you put me to shame! Keep up the good work. Avoiding diabetes is the best reason I can think of for staying true to your healthy lifestyle. That disease scares me.
