The Big Break, good and bad

Friday, April 25, 2014

Greetings all! Made it back from Visiting Sis, in Hawaii. Great trip, ready to move back!
Gotta post a vid of the view from sis's balcony! 180 degrees of gorgeous and ocean!

Came back to a 'slightly' banged up mom. My sister had told me 3 days prior that she had fallen and was really messed up. Apparently , sis, couldn't contain herself and went outside to clean our garage and my mom shuffled out and fell on the cobblestone pathway. I was still shocked when I saw her. Freaking miracle she didn't break something.

Noticed a HUGE change in my appetite however! Rarely hungry at all on vacation, no sitting around snacking all night, etc. My first night home I stuffed myself with junk food to the point I was literally sick. WHat a surprise, I am an emotional eater (like I didn't know that?) Didn't help that our package of mac nuts and ARARE chips arrived here shortly after we did! I insisted my hubs hide the coffee glazed nuts, or I KNOW I'd sit here and pig out on them non stop.

Trying to face the scale this weekend, avoided it for a month already. Using unpacking and getting resettled as an excuse not to work out, but MAYBE this weekend will bring some action of the exercise kind! Going to definately need it for stress relief! (The more one on one attention I give my mom each day, the more she wants. OF course I am watching her movements like a hawk at the moment. My sis had taken her to ER when she fell or rather the ambulance did. I took her to her own Dr. Tuesday and felt very 'judged' over just how the poor old thing looked!)

Seriously and intently planning how we can MOVE back to Hawaii! Even if it's with my poor old mom in tow! :)

Hawaii is beautiful and your sister is lucky to live there...but...it is expensive. You'll get back on track, but I would have stressed ate too if I saw my mom look like your mom. You can't turn your back for a second....take a break or even breathe without something happening. I've seen worse. Your mom didn't have to fall that hard to do that damage...she didn't break the skin open too much...looks like a small tear?...lots of blood pooling in the neck and face..looks like she bled in, instead of out... My mom, no once, but twice, dropped something on her leg...once a heavy mirror, another time a heavy piece of art work. Why at her age she feels the need to clean and move things around that are heavy is beyond me. Needless to say, she cut a Hugh piece of her thin skin and it held on with a small flap... she refused to go to the doctor. I could not make her go. Somehow, it healed...but all the art work and heavy mirrors have been removed. I say, take her to Hawaii! If you need an extra set of eyes, just give me an hour to pack and I will be on my way! Its so good to see you. And, you and your sister are beautiful! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Wow, poor mom! She does look beat up, doesn't she? (Might be what the dr was wondering, elder abuse can be an issue.)

And yeah, Hawaii sounds like a great place to live!!!
