Day 23 - 6 a.m. - baby steps = small victories

Yesterday at 6 a.m I was supposed to get up and go for a walk/run. Instead, I got up and went to the bathroom and crawled back into bed. Today I was all dressed in my workout clothes because I wore them to bed and I actually got up! It was raining cats and dogs, but instead of going back to bed, I did some stretching and strength training. That means that tomorrow I should be able to make it out of my apartment at 6 a.m.! Baby steps...small victories.

Yesterday was weigh in for one of the teams I am on. It has been 5 weeks and I have lost just under 5 pounds. That includes the week of insanity when I moved at the beginning of April. I would love for this weight to go away faster, but I am still making progress. I didn't gain it overnight, I can't expect to lose it that quickly besides I am developing healthy habits that I can sustain. Baby steps...small victories.

My officemate has been working really hard to drink a gallon of water each day, as per her new trainer. She has inspired me. I am now drinking water during the day as well. I am a Diet Coke addict (I know. Its my one vice and I am not ready to give it up!) So far this week, before I can have a can of diet coke, I have to drink a similar quantity of water. Already this morning I have had a liter of water on my way to work and am part way through my first can of Diet Coke. This is a big step for me, but I'll call it a baby step...small victory.

Weekend project: clear the 24s and 22s out of my closet. I couldn't find a pair of black pants with pockets in a size 20 this morning so I grabbed a pair of 22s. If there wasn't some elastic in the waistband, I would have no chance of keeping them up! I am saving one pair of 24s, my favorites, so that I have a before pair for the obligatory photo, but the rest of the 24s and 22s need to go to the Goodwill. For one thing, my closet is bursting at the seams. For another, there is no reason to save clothes that don't fit! Its a good thing for my budget that I still have a few 18s to wear! Baby steps...small victories.

Let's keep making baby steps, because small victories are cumulative!

    I loved that you figured out what you needed to do to make getting up and exercising first thing in the morning work for you. That's always such a struggle for me!

    I have had "closet purging" on my mental to do list since spring started flirting with us...thanks for the reminder! It will feel so good to be able to find things that fit well whenever we reach into the closet!
