HEY...is my FAT filling out my WRINKLES????

Wednesday, April 23, 2014

YIKES...Someone told me I was losing weight so fast I was gonna be a baggy shell if I kept it up. Now while THAT is a total exaggeration- it DID get me thinking. I gained 100 pounds and I still look relatively young for almost 50. But there is definitely extra weight on my face. Could it be filling out the wrinkles? Am I going to turn into a wrinkled hag if I reach my goal? SURELY that could NOT be the reward for being an incredible shrinking woman. SO here's my plan.

Yes I am doing this so I don't freakin Waddle anymore! And yeah I want my hips and back to stop hurting. And I also want my body to be healthy from all the chemical free stuff I am eating. ANd the outcome of that will be a smaller number on the scale.... But is that enough?

I haven't shown myself much love in the last few years...And while my hubby would argue that I have shown myself "TOO much love" Over indulgence is NOT the same thing as "Showing yourself love". THat should be done by taking CARE of yourself and your body..... eating any and everything is NOT love. It's like spoiling the already bratty kid. ( And not a very good idea) So since I decided a little TOUGH LOVE is called for with my diet. Can't I be kinder to myself with the pampering and indulging my SKIN?

Most of us put on make- up and wear sunscreen...but do most of us really Take Care of our skin?? I don't think so and I know I haven't. I have always taken my skin for granted. Not anymore.

I went out and got some wonderful skin care products and am dedicated to not only eating healthy everyday- but to pampering my SKIN with vitamin creams, moisturizers, periodic masks and in general- taking care of my skin in a way I never have. I even bought those cotton gloves and have started wearing them to bed with lotion. Sally Beauty Supply had some excellent skin care choices for a fraction of what all the department store and sephora were charging for similar products. SO I loaded up. From now on... I'm going to indulge my SKIN instead of my cravings.

And you know what? If losing the weight DOES give me wrinkles...then I can save up and get some surgery! LOL...hell...I might be able to pay for it selling all my size 10-20 clothes on ebay. Once I'm a 6/8 again I won't be needing them!

Just my thought for the day!

OK off to wash those grays right outta my hair...me & Clairol have a date in a few minutes! Hope this gave some of you pause for thought about how you treat your skin. There is more to being healthy than the number on the scale.

UPDATE:
SOme of you wondered who had the gall to comment like this to me. I have to say it wasn't malicious. THey were actually teasing me and trying to give me an oblique compliment. But it did make me start thinking...and wallah...another blog :) emoticon

    Hi Paula -
how's the skin care working out?? I've been enjoying DHC skin care because MaryKay always made me break out (even though I loved the pink packaging & cases!). Just found your recipe for Lebanese potato salad so I'm gonna save that tomorrow. I've been on a trend to look for Lebanese recipes and saving them as my
recipe of the day SparkPoints, even though I don't necessarily MAKE them the same day that I look at the recipes!!).

    Later -

I've wondered about this too. Lucky me, Mary Kay's army got ahold of me when I was young and even tho I no longer buy HER products, I have always kept lots of face care products on hand. I hope it pays off in the end... or well, near the end. LOL

I have seen people who have lost over 100 pounds with more wrinkles but when it comes down to being healthy...who the hell cares? As we age wrinkle will come but taking care of your skin, exercising and eating right will slow them down. By the way most of the ones I have seen with a lot of wrinkles had surgery and lost the weight FAST!!!! I agree, who would have the gall to comment about this? I would not even say this to my best friend!!! You emoticon go girl....

yep ... sounds like you not only have a good plan but sound reasoning as well. I too have begun to give more thought to this area of my life and plan to start this weekend with some Clairol color, a mineral bath, and a clay mask.

glad to see you taking care of yourself & not just weight wise.

I have been upping my game with the skin care, lately.
My son Nick, always told me I look younger with a bit of weight on me.
I am hoping for the happy in-between look, as I drop the pounds.
I also hope my eyes will get a bit more open, as I am squinting, too much, at the moment. Can you say, glasses??? Going soon.

Love my spa nights, at home, that I treat myself to, once a week.

GREAT idea! It does wonders for our confidence as well!

Here is to great skin and hips that don't wobble. emoticon

I like your thinking lady! Since I am working on that body change before 60 hits in September I might just jump on that skin care bandwagon! Heaven knows I've neglected it enough the first 59+ years! Love the idea of pampering and spoiling myself that way instead of feeding the belly! The one and only facial I've ever had in my life was amazing and I felt and looked so good after it. Hmmmmmm I do believe I've just discovered my weight loss rewards!!!!!!! emoticon

Good plan!! I sometimes paint my nails to avoid the munchie monster. That way I won't snack for fear of wrecking my nail polish. Good luck in reaching your goals!
