I went shopping this morning, set off early. Got a bus and went to Marks and Spencer's on Oxford Street. I very rarely go down there but I wanted to get some eater eggs and hot cross buns. I walked through the home dept. I stood with t mouth open. I was amazed at how beautiful and bright everything was and how desirable. I am a person who hates shopping and very rarely buys anything I don't need. Ah so this is the consumer society I thought.
The food hall was full of goodies. I noticed that a lot of food was half price! So I got some grapes, strawberries, fish for tomorrow and a box of Chinese food for Saturday all reduced. I was well pleased. When I went to pay I had an old gift voucher that a lady had given me when I left work. I.thought it was for £20 but it was for £45! Result! I shall definitely go down again early morning because of the reduced prices, cheaper than my usual shop.
My daughter took me to a garden centre and we got some plants for my garden, then I spent the afternoon planting lavender , geraniums and margaritas.
Today is Maundy Thursday so I will go to Mass this evening. I was asked if I would like my feet washed, but I said no. Then we watch in the church for a few hours.
So I am posting this blog a bit earlier than usual.

I love a good deal! I am working on a $100 gift card through Swagbucks. As was said prices are climbing. There is some sort of bug that is killing banana trees, but it doesn't eat the fruit. I heard lettuce will go up in price because of drought in California.

I pray and ask God to have me see sale prices and then go to where the good prices are.

Yes, that is the consumer-driven society! The plants sound great ...we will have more snow and few more freezes until about mid-May when I can plant stuff...but I keep looking at it. Decided better to let them tend the lavendar than me for a month!

Loved your story about the gift certificate. Doesn't that just make you smile. And happy to hear you found a place with nice produce and cheaper than where you are shopping now. Grocery prices are going sky high and we are all looking for good deals. I bought a 5 gallon bucket of tart cherries=frozen. Had to partially thaw them so I could re-portion into quarts but they are SO good and it was just a deal I couldn't let go!

    Enjoy your holy week festivities!
