Slowly Making My Way to 10,000 Every Day
Tuesday, April 15, 2014
So, I own a SP tracker. I have had it since about October I believe. I started out with the recommended steps of 6,000 per day at first. I am ashamed to say that I actually lowered my goal to 3,000 steps a day for a while. I work in an office and I sit most of the day so at first getting more than 3,000 was challenging.
Fast forward to now. Now I make It a point to try and walk around the office building as much as I can throughout the day. I have upped my goal to 6,500 steps. However, since last week I have been making it a point to get 10,000 steps in per day - except over last weekend, oops!
Anyway, one of the things that motivated me to aim for that many steps is a walking challenge we are having at work that is sponsored through our insurance. Each week they announce a winner on each of the teams. I haven't won yet and next week is the last week. I really want to win!!! Some days it has been really hard for me to get those 10,000 in. I have had to make it a point to walk around my living room at night for 30 minutes to an hour to make sure I get them. But I noticed something over the course of last week. I felt really great all week. And, after MONTHS of no progress on the scale I saw a change. It was a very small change, so I don't know if it was water weight or what - I'm going to go with it wasn't water weight.
I guess my whole point of this was to say that 10,000 steps is not impossible. It's hard to believe that I had so much doubt in myself before that I had my goal at only 3,000. 10,000 steps is possible for anyone as long as you put in a little effort. I plan to push myself again this week to get 10,000 steps every day, and if I can do it again this week I am going to change my goal on my tracker to 10,000. I can do this. Getting another gold fitness medal next week is also keeping me motivated. I want to be the best that I can be, and I know that right now I could be doing better.
