Upcoming Willpower Test

I will be traveling to VA this Sunday to visit my Mom for a couple of weeks.
Since I just got to my desired weight not long ago, and just started really paying attention to my bodies nutritional needs, I see this trip as both a happy time (because I always love to see my Mom) and a true test of my willpower, because she's not the healthiest eater any more. Since she lives alone now, she doesn't cook (.) When she gets hungry she snacks, mostly on all those yummy unhealthy snacks, and goes out for her meals, which is often hit and miss, meaning no real time schedule. I'm not used to eating out at all. I cook almost every night at home. While I look forward to NOT having to cook for 2 weeks! emoticon I don't see how I can possibly track my calories during this time! This puts a sense of dread in my mind.
The best I think I can hope for, is to try and remember the healthy eating habits I've learned thus far, and remember portion control. I will try to keep a few healthy snack items handy, so when she's chomping down on those potato chips and super sweet deserts, and asks :'Would you like to try this? It's REALLY good!!' I will have the sense of mind to say 'No thank you Mom'.

    emoticon Maybe you should volunteer to cook a few meals while you are there, and I bet you 2 could cook up some pretty healthy food and have fun doing it together. emoticon Linda

    I know you are looking forward to not cooking but maybe you could cook with your mom and get some good memories together by making good healthy meals together and maybe you can find some easy recipes and you both can share and it might lend your mom to more healthy eating when you are gone.

    Definitely get some healthy snacks. Maybe you could buy some groceries while you're there and cook some meals so you're not eating out every meal. Check the restaurant's website before you go. You can plan your meal based on the nutritional stats.
