Keeping up with myself

Thursday, April 03, 2014

Hello Spark Friends! I have been wanting to blog for days now but things keep getting in the way. Good things! Finally! (I've set myself a timer so I don't spend to much time "talking" to you all because my day is full and I don't want to get off track.)

Over here in Norway things are getting really interesting for me for sure. I honestly think it all started when I made my 101 Goals in 1001 days list in February. So far I have gotten 14 things completed. I figured that since I was out of work I would look at it as a gift rather than a curse and get going on things that are important to me.

Health wise one of the best things that has happened is that I have started running again. I have a plan and I have been sticking to it! It feels good to be running. The area in which we now live in is kind of interesting as we live a block away from the ocean but within a 7 minute run to the woods and if I run 12 minutes in the other direction I am in the open farmland. I am not getting bored with my runs!

You may have noticed on my status updates I have also been getting some work freelancing. I kind of can't believe it. About a week ago I was contracted to do five posts for an online kitchen ware company and I am working on my first post. It is on "spices". I will share the site once I actually see my stuff posted.

Last week I tried out for a blog and recipe development job for another site that is about to be up and going and yesterday they hired me! They have already bought two of my works and have contracted me to do as many recipes at this point as I can come up with. Patrick has taken all of my food shots. I have about six recipes I will be working on today.

I was contacted at the end of last week to ghost write a project involving "bread". This morning I was told I would get an offer today!

This afternoon I have an interview on Skype for more recipe development. I also have one more recipe development interview hanging out there with out an interview date set yet.

So yes, I feel like I am all up in it and having to work to try and keep up with myself! The thing is, I have been using a site for freelance work and they tell you to really get out there and apply to many jobs (I have a limit of 20 I am allowed to apply for in a month) so you have a better chance at being hired of course. I applied to 7 so far. I'm gonna stop applying for a while. :-)

I wanted work. I got work! This is why I have not been so much on here. The very good part is that I am feeling healthy and happy. The recipe development job I have is all about "healthy". My kids have been thrilled at the foods I have been making and Patrick loves food photography so we are having a great time.

Now I do have to go (my timer rang). I will absolutely share the sites with you very soon…I just gotta see it for real for myself first.

Oh! Here is something else. I would love input from you. I am supposed to submit an authors bio on myself to the "Healthy" site. I have never done one before. Any ideas on what one writes for such a thing?

Have a terrific day!!!!

This is emoticon ! When it rains, it pours for you work-wise, eh? I think you made it happen with the 101 in 1001, just putting yourself out there, and look what happens! I'm so happy for you, and it's great that the kids and Patrick are able to share and participate in your work too.

Nice to hear you are running again too, emoticon

Awesome! You have so much talent and to be able to put it to such a varied use is wonderful! On the bio... That was the hardest thing for me to write, because I kept thinking I sounded boastful. Look at the bios of some of your fav bloggers and authors to get an idea of length and basics. So pleased for you!

Boy did you ever get work! Congrats! I would make a list of things about myself first and then whittle it down to the high points for my bio.
I have to say I am super jealous of your options for running, they sound so varied and beautiful.

That is so exciting and it all sounds perfect for you and for this period of your life. As for the bio, I agree that your "selling point" should be all the wonderful experience you have had traveling and cooking. I think you should also mention that you are a mother since that gives you extra props for people trying to get sometimes picky kids fed on a budget. Congratulations with it all!
