Europe trip - Day 11 (2014 - Blog 86)

A completely relaxing day! Walked through this charming town, visited several museums in a very leisurely fashion. The town's shops are mostly asleep on Sundays and as such the calm feel of the day was accentuated. We did not realize that this is a very very busy town in the summer months, so we consider ourselves fortunate to be experiencing the calm before the hectic nature of summer tourists.
When DH visited Europe with his father a few years ago, he called me just once. It was from this little town. He was immediately taken to it and I can see why. He also took a stunning photo at dawn. The light of the street lamps and the gentle onset of the day shimmer in the water puddles left on the cobblestone streets from a earlier drizzle. It is a photo we both live so much that we had a friend paint the scene for us. It now hangs in the living room. This morning I went to the exact spot to take the photo. And just as I was about the snap the shot, the street lamps flickered and off they went! Darn!!! Will go back out tomorrow and try again. :)
Last full day in Bayeux in Monday. We leave for Paris to visit with my dad again for a day. Our very last full day in France will be on a bike tour of Giverny..Monet's gardens. And then back across the pond to home.
Day's impression = soothing rhythm of a special town
P.S. I will post photos when I get home- one from each day of the trip. A bit of a hassle from the ipad....
