Low Fat Diets, Not Just For Kids:)

Tuesday, March 25, 2014

The weirdest thing happened to me and I hope I can help someone else.

For the past 4-5 days I've been having stomach aches that won't go away. I can't even imagine how many Motrin I took, but I do know how many laxatives. 14. And 3 gas x. My stomach was hugely bloated like I'd never seen and I would not wear anything that did not have elastic. Where I would have tried to button something across my stomach (which I would have been unsuccessful) was pretty much the place it hurt the most.

Sometimes I'm a crazy middle of the night eater and that is my biggest diet failure. I woke up at about 1am and had about two handfuls of Cheetos and shortly after went back to bed.

I woke up at 3am and was in a lot of stomach pain. I got up thinking it would pass, but 4 came, then 5, then 6 and it was actually so much worse. I would have to say perhaps the most pain I have ever been in.

Luckily my husband hadn't left for work and drove me to the emergency room.

Long story short, I had biliary colic caused by gallstones. I have to have my gallbladder removed ASAP and have an appointment with a surgeon tomorrow.

Well now I know it was the stupid Cheetoes that caused it! However, had I not eaten those, I typically eat a diet that is very low fat like they recommended until the surgery. Who knows how much longer I could have gone, but at least now I understand why *14* laxatives(not on the same day! did not work.

Low fat diets..... I can't think of a single reason why someone would not pursue that! I certainly do not wish that kind of pain on anyone!!

Hope all is doing well!!:)

Sorry to hear about this, I hope the surgery goes well and that you recover soon. Thank God they found this before something worse happened.

It's pretty easy if you are having the laproscopic kind. I came home and planted tulips!! The learning to eat small meals frequently after the surgery is really important. I spent the whole first act of Nutcracker in the bathroom because I ate rich creamy pasta and it went right through me...doc said to split all my meals in half and eat 6 times a day until my body adjusted-but it was 3 weeks after surgery so I'm just going to give you that tip right up front to save you the time in the bathroom.
Let us know how you do!! Best wishes for an easy surgery.

Sending you positive thoughts for your surgery. Wow I am shocked to find out Cheetos are actually good for something.
