The Morchard Bishop Maypole Dance for Orchestra (For SPARKINGME 176)

This is a work I wrote eight years ago to comemorate spring may day bank holiday in one of our local villages. It is a place where they carry out a maypole dance on the first Saturday in May every year - a tradition that is hundreds of years old. This piece, originally written for a local brass band has now been transcribed for orchestra in this arrangement. I hope you enjoy it and please fel free to leave a comment below.

Yes! The marionettes would love it, as well as the children! So whimsical! You are a true talent! My inner child, Starshine would do GREAT with it! Her pic is in my gallery. She's the 1 with pink hair! I'm performing for seniors, too! I think they would love it too!

I am so impressed with your creative genius, but having none myself, (truly), am at a loss for words to describe the experience. Listening to compositions that I simply cannot imagine having the ability to create leaves me with the thought that you possessed this talent on the day you were born - and later in your life you simply allowed it to come forth.

Wonderful, Trev. I love the Maypole Dances and this music is wonderful. We did the Maypole Dance at school when I was a child and I loved the colored crepe paper ribbons and the coming and and out and over and under with them. Very few places do them anymore...and last one I saw at a school was done to the horrible tune of "Pop Goes the Weasel"??? This is a perfect, light tune for it!

Well this is my

MORCHARD BISHOP MAYPOLE DANCE

This four minute work for symphony orchestra I have added for one of my spark friends SPARKINGME 176. Something I feel could maybe used for a marionette dance. Again like the concerto it is of an upbeat nature and quite a cheerful bubbly work.
