dining out

Saturday, March 22, 2014

Well, last night we did end up going out to eat. Just as I had planned for, my husband did order that appetizer-bloomin onion. Yes, I know the thing is not in the least bit healthy, (although my husband tried to counter that being an onion and all) but I wanted to have some. So I did. Not sure if not having the sauce with it is a saving point or not, but I don't like the sauce anyway and hopefully saved a few calories by not eating it. I had planned on being able to eat the onion.

I stuck to my plan for the most part. I had planned not to have any roll or butter, but I decided to enjoy just part of a roll at the end of my meal rather than at the beginning. I ordered a salad without croutons, egg, cheese and dressing and brought my own toppings of diced chicken, onions and peppers and a little fat free dressing. The salad from the restaurant was just lettuce and tomatoes, which was totally fine. I had them serve it on a plate rather than in a bowl, so I had plenty of room to dump on my toppings.

I think I am going to use this plan again in the future. I get really tired of ordering that "grilled chicken breast" and then not feeling satisfied after I have eaten it. Last night I felt satisfied with my choices, even though the onion was not the healthiest thing. I very seldom have stuff like that and I did not feel guilty.
