Looking forward to something.....

Monday, March 17, 2014

Just a little something but my oldest son and his new wife will be coming out here to visit in April, can't wait as we couldn't be there for the wedding AND we've never seen the new daughter in law, sister in law, etc. Have spoken to her on the phone but you know.....

We will be taking PICTURES! You have to understand I hate pictures of me! But I am willing to do this as we haven't had a "family" picture since my 50th birthday many moons ago. LOL Here's hoping that I lose something between here and there.....

I have camera phobia too, Panda. I can remember hiding from the family photos when the summer or holiday picture taking started and I was just a kid. The best advice I can give is ... go get a salon day before they arrive and have your hair, make-up or a facial and a tweeze done, and find the most perfect color - something that makes your eyes POP or your skin glow ... best to try to hold colors up to your face in NATURAL light. Fluorescent lighting is NOT your friend. It's going to make you look 'sickly' and should be avoided. It you can find a peach or blush or soft pink background, i.e. wall, drapes, side of the house, use it!! It's been proven that those colors give us the best natural youthful 'boost' for our skin coloring too. Have a teeth cleaning/whitening strips done too. Last ... it you're feeling a bit self-conscious about your weight, stay away from horizontal stripes, rufflles, saggy-baggy clothes (which actually make us look bigger AND frumpy) and turn to the side. Practice turning in the mirror and ask yourself which side looks best to you. We all have a more becoming (photographically) side. Face the mirror straight on. That is NOT how you want to be in your pictures. Did you know we (people) look about 10 lbs heavier on film than we really are?!! Yep. Sooo ... turn to the left, then turn to the right and pick your fav. You can try tipping/turning your head this way n' that too, till you find the best angle for you. We all have best sides and best angles but most of us don't know how to find it. I'm not going to say that this will end your camera phobia (hasn't ended mine) but maybe a little 'prep' before that day, will help you to face it with less anxiety. ::hugs::

This sounds wonderful! And it can be great motivation to whip yourself into shape...although I would argue that you're already beautiful right now!

Think of all the wonderful memories the pictures will represent. You will cherish them because it is all family. Have fun with your family when they get there.

Don't think about pictures, just think about what a great event you will be having meeting the in-laws and the future mother of you grandchildren.
