Friends versus acquaintances

Monday, March 17, 2014

In my life I have a handful of really good friends and a whole lot of acquaintances. My friends have helped and encouraged me and hopefully they think I have done the same for them. emoticon emoticon

My acquaintances- I think about, and I care about them, and occasionally help them, but they are not at the top of my list of concerns and worries in this life. Already have enough.

I have now found that that is how I feel about my Spark Friends. I only have enough time to really care about a handful. There are a lot of spark people on this site that I occasionally check on and am glad to see that they are doing well and succeeding, but I have decided to only keep as friends the ones I really connect with.

Even after only being on this site a few months I have come across some new friends that I feel I have known for years. And there are probably more out there that I will find as months go by, and even some I will lose, much like real life.

I do not feel like I need a large number of friends noted on my page. If you are my friend I want to be able to have the time to share our successes together and to enjoy each other's on line friendship.

So please if you have added me as a friend and I did not return the action do not feel rejected, I could be out here checking on you and wishing you well but will only befriend and keep as friends those that I can really treat the way they deserve to be treated.

Many will not approve of my thoughts on this matter, but I am starting to realize that this is my life and I must live it the way I feel best. I cannot feel bad because I do not have time for everyone.

Wishing everyone the best, happiest and healthiest life possible.

I agree completely. I've added more friends than I thought I would when I first started this site, but that is mainly because many of them stopped using the site, and I've added new ones. But I only add those people whom I think I can keep up with and check in on several times a week. "Friend" isn't a word to take lightly.

I have been on Spark for may years. I have Spark Friends that are no longer active on Spark. Some have even deleted their accounts. I always feel a strange sense of loss when I see defunct Spark Friends.

    Thanks, Bruce

I think the Internet can be overwhelming at times and starting fresh is a great way to go. We are all here to live a healthy lifestyle and simplifying it is definitely needed from time to time. Wishing you lots of success in the days to come! :)
