Oboe Concerto 3rd Movement Allegro Scherzando

This is the final movement of the concerto. It is altogether a light hearted piece that is fairly jovial and cheeky in places. The structure is in a loose rondo form that eventually takes us into a cadenza before Orchestra and soloist finally come together to round it all off.

Well you now have it all - my Oboe Concerto that is still looking for a first performance so if you know anybody who is capable of attempting it then please get in touch and let us know.

    Someone trying to talk a bit of sense at her, and she's having none! Life just bursting out all over her, and no time for any of that other stuff. Sounds like she's converted him in the end, after all!

    This is a charming piece. It's fun to listen to. As you say, light and bouncy.

    I think that the relentless emphasis on sixteenth notes gives it a bit of a feel of an etude rather than a concerto movement. You do play around with the rhythmic style very near the end, but even the cadenza is an accelerando of the basic sixteenth note structure.

    That said, I couldn't have done as well. I don't have your talent. I hope you find someone to play it for you. That high note may be a bit tricky!

    Now, I don't think I can quite explain this, but listening to this wonderful jovial and, yes, cheeky piece, I instantly began moving about this room tossing my hands in the air as if to indicate my embracing of life - LOL, and in doing so, I also became the character Auntie Mame, from the 1958 film starring Rosalind Russell, Hey, (I admit to having an over-active imagination). So, since I am Auntie Mame today, you may quote me as saying, " Life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death!" .... "But you, dear English Boy, know a banquet when you create one - and what a FEAST this is!"

    Trev, the entire concerto is just wonderful. Very light hearted and jovial. I would love to be able to play in the orchestra that performs this beautiful piece of music, and I hope that you are able to find an orchestra and soloist to perform the piece sometime soon. I would love it if you were able to have it performed, and I would definitely buy the recording if you were able to get one made. Thank you very, very much for sharing this with us.

    as you say jovial, cheeky, and I'd say there is a freedom to your music that is very soothing. the 3 movements all bring me to another place and time when life was easier.
