Glad to Start a New Week

Sunday, March 16, 2014

We all have them, days that don't start off well and in spite of our best intentions, positive attitudes and putting our best foot forward...we slip on unexpected and unwelcome surprises. That's how my Monday started and it continued through out the entire week.

4 am on Monday half asleep I walked into the dining room and realized that I was sloshing through water. I look into the kitchen and water is pouring out from beneath the sink, running into the living room and the dining room. Naturally, my better half is in the shower getting ready for his first day at his new job. He retired 5 months ago, and of course this couldn't happen while he was able to stay home and fix it. We got the water shut off to the reverse osmosis tank (which had rusted through) and we took turns mopping until he had to leave at 5. My grandson arrived at 5:15. Keeping a nearly 4 year old from playing in the water was a whole nother bunch of fun.

On Tuesday my son called to tell me his medications were not working and he was at the hospital getting help. As usual, the mental hospitals were over crowded and over the course of three days he was transferred three times until they were able find a space for him and a doctor who knew what combo of drugs to use.

Each day this past week was another opportunity for Murphy's Law to go full tilt. On Saturday, our busiest day was the worse. We went for our morning walk and my heel which has been hurting off and on for over a month decided to really kick in. By the time we got back home I was hobbling around and had to take a pain pill left over from some dental work done last year. Good thing I did or we would not have been able to see our son, shop for our friend, hit the hardware store (replacement system for Monday's issue), do our grocery shopping, wash my son's nauseum.

This morning I cut our walk down to a little over two miles, to give my foot a break and will have to make an appointment with the Dr. Whew! Glad this week is over!
