Oboe Concerto 2nd Movement Largo Espressivo

This is the second movement of the concerto - a slow reflective piece that was influenced by the views around the river Taw as it meanders through the meadows on the foothills of north dartmoor.

    I love your description of the meadow by the stream... but your music visualizes to me a beautiful autumn leaf, curled and twirling on that slow stream, lazy and effortless. Maybe wending its gentle way past waterfowl and happy strollers. A beautiful, soothing vision, either by word or by music.

    Reflective and meandering - surely the perfect descriptions of this beautiful piece - Flowing like the river, Taw, that you describe in your intro. Soothing, cool water finding it's way on a well known path. It is like a refreshing break away from all life's obstacles, while knowing that there is no need to hurry to a certain destiny. Time marching on but at a slower pace.

    Just beautiful, Trev. You are so very talented. (I tried my hand at composing when I was younger but only wrote one piece of music that was worth anything, a lovely violin duet.) Your concerto is just lovely. As I listen to both of the movements you have shared, in my mind I can see the beautiful flowing river in the springtime.     This is the second movement of the concerto and as it says in the description the music depicts a particular meadow that is situated about five miles north of Dartmoor. At the edge of the meadow is the river Taw which at this stage of it's journey is little more than a gentle flowing brook that sings gently with it's splashes across the granite rocks of the river bed. The meadow at certain times of the year flowers with bluebells and flowers with poppies too and there always seems to be a gentle breeze and distant bird song and in the evening cricket chirps. It is one of the most tranquil places in North Devon and is a place to be whenever you want to be alone with your thoughts or just want to be at one with nature.

    I can only hope my sound representation of this area goes some way to giving it justice.

    I sincerely hope you enjoy listening to it as I will be adding the final part of the concerto at about this time tomorrow evening.
