Open work out 14.3

Friday, March 14, 2014

Every year crossfit has an open work out! It starts in February and runs for 5 weeks. Anyone in the world can compete. I in no way thought I would be able to compete in any way with top crossfit athletes but was very excited to try and see where I stacked upped. I just didn't want to be last in the world!!!

So the first work out was announced and it was double under jump ropes and snatches. Well problem is that you had to do 30 double unders before you could even move to the snatch part of the work out. In my 9 months of crossfit I had done 1 before. So knew that it was going to be very hard for me. I managed to do 15 though in the 10 minutes wod. Did I get to the snatches...nope. But seriously I was so excited I cried. It was a huge feeling of accomplishment. And I wasn't last in the! Cause I know some couldn't even get that 1 double.

So the next week though was over head squats and chest to bar pull ups. Ok...well the weight on the over head squats was 65 pounds. So this was the end of my official open participation. I knew that I would not be able to do this wod with out scaling it. It was ok though. I did do the work out and I scaled it back. I did my over head squats at 35 pounds and I did jump up chest to bars. It was still a really tough work out. But can't quite explain the feeling of knowing that thousands of people are doing the same thing you are for the same goal and you are hanging with them.

Here is this weeks work out announced last night:
8 minute AMRAP:
10 deadlifts, 135 / 95 lb.
15 box jumps, 24 / 20 inch
15 deadlifts, 185 / 135 lb.
15 box jumps, 24 / 20 inch
20 deadlifts, 225 / 155 lb.
15 box jumps, 24 / 20 inch
25 deadlifts, 275 / 185 lb.
15 box jumps, 24 / 20 inch
30 deadlifts, 315 / 205 lb.
15 box jumps, 24 / 20 inch
35 deadlifts, 365 / 225 lb.
15 box jumps, 24 / 20 inch

It's an 8 minute as many rounds as possible of deadlifts and box jumps. I maxed out my deadlift at 200 pounds last week. I am confident I will be able to get through the round of 15 deadlifts and start on the round of 20 at 155 pounds. I will have serious issues lifting that repeatedly but it is only 8 minutes. So I will bust my butt to get as many reps as possible. I'm so excited that it is a WOD that I can do all the movements. Well my box jumps will be step ups because I am a tad afraid of that damn But still I can do this one!! Woo Hoo!! I'll post later what my score was. I'll be doing this at least once or maybe 2 times this weekend. Maybe 3 times who knows.

What an awesome day!! You all enjoy it!!! Get out and get moving!!
PS: managed 72 reps. Pretty happy with that but think I'm going to do it again and see what hapoens.
