Baby Gift Dilemma
Monday, March 10, 2014
For those of you who read my blog "SERIOUSLY?!?" from Thursday, March 06, 2014, you will know I have a friend who seems to be using me simply for gifts. Many advised to just send a card or ignore her altogether with, but based on how I was raised I am having great difficulties with this, so I compromised.
Rather than doing a wishing well for her shower her sister in law decided that she would buy a bookshelf for the nursery and everyone could bring (and inscribe) a book for the baby. I have to admit, I absolutely love this idea! So, I went to the local library where they have a book store filled with donated (new & used) books. All the money spent there goes back into the library. I found a brand new copy of one of my FAVORITE children's books...
This is remarkably appropriate since the baby's mother and I majored in Art History together and did our student teaching at the same school.
In addition, knowing finances are tight and that I haven't seen this woman in forever, I decided that rather than buying a gift I would use my scrap fabric and make her something. So, here is what I came up with. Hope she likes them! (the baby's name is Chloe)
