Ads getting worse

Originally I wanted to post something more upbeat but upon logging in I was bombarded with non-sparker-related ads, such as for adult-content anime with a steroidal-breasted young thang bustin' out all over from her skimpy anime outfit, to H&RBlock, to furniture and appliances...
What is WITH Sparkpeople??!! Why all this garbage?
The longer I remain a member, the less I am getting anything out of being here. There's way too much emphasis on protein, and sooo not enough on complex carbs. Complex carbs, not fat or protein, fills a hungry appetite with fewer calories and more nutrients. The nutrition "experts" on this site are pretty much full of the bull that's been spoon-fed to them by big food industry lobbyists. Hungry? Eat a baked potato, don't waste your money on that garbage processed protein shake. A potato will fill you up better and more safely than the processed protein junk. Eat a bowl of rice. Eat a sweet potato. Heck, eat 4 slices of whole-grain low-fat bread! Even that is better for you than a protein shake. But the "experts" on this site won't promote that because there's no profit in it. They'd rather sell you a box of protein powder you don't need and that your body can't utilize anyway than tell you to go shopping at your local grocery store and stock up on produce-aisle starches.

I weighed in this morning, and am at 168 lbs. This whole week I have been pigging out on 3 bean mole, which I made from a recipe featured on Dr. McDougall's newsletter, over rice and greens. Lots of rice and greens, and lots of mole. Last night for my splurge meal I pigged out on a medium pizza with no sauce or meat or dairy, just fresh tomatoes, green bell pepper, and garlic on a no-oil crust. Yes, I ate the whole thing, even though I had snacked on a small baked sweet potato about 90 minutes earlier.
I am eating like there's no tomorrow. This is the easiest, happiest, healthiest, most doable diet in the world. And sadly, millions of people who can benefit from this diet will never even give it a try, because there's no fat, no meat, no dairy, and very little processed stuff on it. Every member of Sparkpeople can benefit from this diet, over whatever diet they're on right now.
Weight loss is effortless, and the health and life changes are almost miraculous. I stopped taking vitamin and calcium supplements weeks ago, and do not have any cravings that suggest a deficiency anywhere. I am training for a marathon in August and I have lots of energy and my runs are wonderful. Obviously I'm getting everything I need nutrition-wise, including protein and fat, from the whole food plant based diet I'm on, and I'm obviously getting full on what I eat as well.
I just wish, truly wish, that everyone could give this diet a try.

    I feel the same way! Too much emphasis on meat and dairy.....I think many health care worker will catch on, especially those who have cardiac patients. Hang in here!
