First Meeting of Breast Cancer Survivor Support Group

Monday, March 03, 2014

I was delighted to attend my first support group meeting at the BCSSG office in West Reading. I met 23 other women who were survivors with cancer. The women chatted so nicely. The presented talked about Fear of Recurrence. FEAR equals False Evidence Accepting Reality.

I will go back to other meetings. We have some social events planned as well. I will need to schedule. I am very busy,

I am happy.

Sandy you are stll on my prayer list. I pray for you almost every day (I forget once in a while). It was good to hear you say you are happy and also that you have found some people to walk beside you on your journey. Praying for healing, peace and joy.

Good support groups are hard to find; I am glad you have found one.

I haven't found any in my area where I feel I fit in, but I belong to a couple of private metastatic breast cancer support groups on Facebook that I find very helpful.

I have not found a support group yet, it was difficult finding one during the treatment, but I think I will look into now. I do go for weekly counselling.

So glad you're happy. Support groups are so important. We connect with others who are in our situation. It seems when you realize you're not the only one feeling a certain way, it brings relief. You also give back when you share.

Support groups are so helpful. It's great to talk with "real" people who know what you're going through.
