"Happiness, I have discovered, is nearly always a rebound from hard work." David Grayson

This morning was another nice run. A bit chillier that yesterday and a heck a lot more wet. As I am jumping over puddles that line the sidewalks here in the neighborhoods where I am cat sitting, my toes got wetter and wetter and my hair dripped down my shirt. Only had two other runners on my entire route today. Most people are curled up in front of a warm fire I am guessing. (My turn next!)

I can run a lot longer without stopping when I am outside. Although I can tolerate the treadmill, I simply cannot run far without stopping. I wobble and think I have gone forever and am always wrong! Running through neighborhoods is a delight. The scenery keeps changing and you get tiny glimpses into other lives. But I do get tired and my legs often have a loud conversation with me about stopping, but I am able to keep working harder than when I am in the gym.

emoticon The fruit of today's hard work? THE BEST FRUIT EVER… happiness. Before I got to doing more walking and running on a regular basis, I had heard people say that running was a form a healthy therapy. All I could think of was "REALLY?" I mean, you sweat, you breathe hard and you get tired! That is therapy? YUP. It is when I work hard that I get home and feel good. Tired maybe, but good.

Looking forward to riding next weekend. Just got the ol' Talisman (my bike's name) tuned up and she is ready for the spring riding weather. WOOHOO!! Another course of hard work and great happiness.

Have a super Sunday… enjoying the fruits of your hard work.

I felt like I had been for a run after reading this blog.
I don't run but when I was sea swimming the other day I was really appreciating the difference from pool swimming. The lift and pull of the sea is so pleasing, and the sense that you need to keep alert to where you are or you could be in trouble. It got cold suddenly, it is autumn here, and I can't be swimming too many more times this season, it is back to the pool for me.

When I am angry or upset about something, running is positively cathartic. I remember when I was around my lowest point through my whistleblower ordeal... I went for a long, slow run in very cold weather. The tears were streaming down my face as I ran. I didn't leave thinking I'd be crying, but they just came around mile 2 and ended close to mile 3. Nothing could stop them until they were done. There were a few times during that period when I'd well up at the Y on the treadmill, too. Yeah. Running is definitely therapeutic.

    Beautiful picture! Thanks for sharing.

I can't wait to run outside in Florida later this week. I have put many miles in on my treadmill. It has been too cold for me to run outside. You are so lucky!

I love the feeling I get when I am done running and can totally relate to your blog.

I hope you have a fantastic week - enjoy those cats emoticon

Mother nature is so awesome. Just being out doors is awesome. Walking or running is calming, even if you are working hard. Treadmills are boring I do agree, but if all you have is snow and ice, I guess that will have to do. I have my stationary bike, but, outdoor bikes are so much better and a lot more fun. Thanks so much for sharing and you have a awesome Sunday too.
    God Bless,

emoticon I agree about outside vs treadmill - much more interesting. When I think of the interesting ghetto I ran through when I was in my 20's my mind boggles at what I was thinking. If my daughter ever did that I would faint! Unless she's doing it and not telling me.

Ahhhh the endorphins! I've heard this happens to many after exercising. For me, alas, not right after but later on in the morning and it is a mild form sorry to say. Part of my muscle issue I've been told. Oh well. Glad you had that great high.
