Moms prognosis

Saturday, March 01, 2014

I'm spending a lot of time at the hospital with Mom. Dr says her liver is mostly cancer , her lung has a spot that might be cancer also but we are not going to biopsy it. We are going to get hospice involved and keep her as comfortable as possible until the end. The Dr doesn't think it will be long just months. The Dr and I told her about her cancer this am. She said "I'm going home to heaven soon" We spent most of the day together. My daughter Melissa and I sat in her room visiting with mom and knitting the lap afghans we are both knitting for her. We both kept saying we were going to make one for her someday. I'm going to spend as much time with her as I can. Thank you all for the support, the prayers, the goodies. I've been unable to thank everyone individually but I appreciate you all. emoticon emoticon

My prayer has gone up that your family stays strong during this trial. It is a great blessing to know your mom is going home to be with the Lord and you will be with her for eternity. May Gods' love surround you and bring peace to your heart. Just remember I Thess. 4:13 - 18.

You are blessed to be able to spend this time with your mom and to hear her say that she will be going home to heaven soon. Knowing that she is at peace will give you both strength and peace.

I believe that the lap blankets will provide comfort for her. Just like children as they start their lives, the sick, the elderly and those who are approaching the end of their lives find comfort in softness of a blanket or floppy stuffed animal. Life is truly a circle.

May God bless you and keep you emoticon and emoticon

I am glad you could tell your mom. Even if she forgets, it is important you told her... I hope it hasn't been too difficult telling your family...
Remember to take good care of yourself through these very difficult times, my friend...

Karen, I'm sorry about your Mom. I am glad for you that you're able to spend time with her now. My Mom died 3 years ago, and I am thankful that I was able to travel to be with her several times in her last few years. I was able to tell her how much I appreciate that she led me to the Lord when I was little. I know she went to Heaven; still, her passing was both happy (for her) and sad for me. God still provides the comfort I need. I tell you this to let you know that you may be sad when your Mom goes to Heaven, but that God loves you and will be with you and hold you in His loving arms.

This is such sad news. You will never regret the time you are spending with her right now.

You don't need to thank us. You just need to take very good care of yourself and your family now. Stress can be your worst enemy sometimes. Get in some exercise and/or stretching and your body will thank you (I'm talking about that pain in your neck and shoulders.) Dig down deep and gather up all that strength you have. I'm praying for you and yours. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
