Back from an awesome trip to Japan (with pics)

Friday, February 28, 2014

DH and I just spent the last two weeks visiting Japan. We had a ball! Different culture and wonderful food! (yes I now have about 4 or 5 pounds to lose)

We started out in Tokyo.

Then to the island of Hokkiado the town of Niseko to ski.

(This is what I look like when I ski)

We also visited Shinto and Buddist shrines.

No utensils. Only chop sticks,

But it's back to reality! Actually good to be back.

What an amazing trip! Did you bring your own ski gear?
I never would have thought of skiing in Japan while on vacation.

Wow, it sounds like an amazing trip and great pictures too. Thanks so much for sharing. So stupid question... Do you speak the language or were you able to stay and be at places where it was possible not to? Sounds wonderful. Good for you!

emoticon My mom was stationed in Okinawa when she was in the Women's Army Corp (WAC) during the 50's. She just loved it and went back to see an old friend that she has kept in touch with. I think that was 2001. What a bustling busy place. Looks like you had a great time.

What fun. I spent 3 years in Japan during high school. (Air Force Brat). I lived at the top of the main island in Misawa. About a 12 hour drive north of Tokyo. I did take a trip to Okinawa a southern island and also went to Tokyo a few times. One year I went on a church trip to Sendai and saw there beautiful shrines. Never made it to Hokkaido. They have wonderful ice carvings there every winter and I wanted to go, but never made it. Misawa where I lived averaged 130 inches of snow fall a year. The base even had a ski hill. I have never been skiing. Will have to put on my to do list.
