Kristen Cooks!

Friday, February 28, 2014

If you followed my blog at all before I took my hiatus you know that I'm not the biggest cook. I have been getting MUCH better about it now. Since I'm home all day and Noah works quite late I've been trying to cook dinner for us. I have always been the first one to call "uncle" and order takeout. Not anymore! The truth is I much prefer home cooked meals anyway. Here's what's been on the menu this week:

Sunday: Roast beef sandwiches, oven fries, and salad (Noah cooked this delicious meal)
Monday: Spaghetti and (homemade) meatballs with garlic bread
Tuesday: Stir fried veggies and shrimp over rice
Wednesday: Stuffed salmon with cous cous and brussels sprouts
Thursday: Mushroom risotto with spring mixed salad

now, I know that not everything is super healthy - but I'm working on it!

triumph from yesterday: only went over by 10 calories. I know it's over - but lets just say I was going WAY over until yesterday. I've been tracking a lot better recently.

today I have done nothing but snuggle the baby and watch tv. I keep telling myself I'm going to get up and do something productive and then I get sucked into an SVU marathon. UGH. Next week I SWEAR I will be more productive and move more.

tomorrow I'm having my first grown up outing without the baby or Noah. it's a bachelorette for one of my best friends. I'm excited! and the good news is that I'm a super cheat date after so much time not drinking :) I also think Noah's excited to be spending solo time with his baby boy.

I wish it was spring already. this winter is pounding the east coast and killing my chances of getting out and moving with the baby boy. we've been out for walks every day it's been above 40 but that hasn't been many. I can't wait to go for walks with him and get out! wishful thinking.

how're you all doing this beautiful Friday?

Congratulations on digging in and learning to do another skill. I really admire someone who admittedly does know how to do something but wades in anyway to TRY!!

I've been cooking since I was very young and from experience I will tell you that not everything turns out well, but I've learned from all my mistakes.

The backlash of all this cooking experience is that my DH doesn't like going for dinner as he says it all just muck compared to what I cook....... emoticon

Here on the west coast we are enjoying some rain finally....lots of it...unfortunately our rain will turn up as tons of snow for some lucky states out east! Hope you are not in it's path!

A nurse in the maternity ward told me on the birth of my son...."The only thing that spoils is meat". So snuggle away, the bonds you make with that little guy will last a lifetime. My little guy...now 32 is getting married this spring and the bond we created so many years ago when he was born, remains.
