We moved into our brand new mobile home 26 years ago with the intention of living here 5 years, selling the mobile home and moving into a "real" house. Obviously life got in the way and that never happened. We still have the original appliances, furnace is 5 years old, new roof in 2010, original flooring and wallcovering in most of the rooms.
Realizing we are going to live here the rest of our lives, it's definitely time for major updating!
26 year old cabinets had multiple nicks and scratches. White plastic "sleeves" on chandelier had become brittle, cracking and revealing clear plastic base of fixture.
Refinished wood with Old English scratch cover. Installed new shiny brass door and drawer knobs. Covered clear parts on chandelier with black electrical tape.
Now starting Phase Two, which requires a little help. I am going to be buying a new refrigerator and stove to replace the 26 year old ones. They will most likely be white.
1- Have handyman install new white range hood fan.
2- Install (self) backsplash behind stove area . I found one that is multicolored ceramic looking vinyl tiles with squares of white, brown, blue and red. It has enough red to tie into my decorating theme without being overwhelming.
3- New appliances!
4- Have handyman remove shelf that wraps around kitchen sink base. It is and always has only been a place to grow clutter and it's in the way of my husband's mobility with his wheelchair.
5- Patch screw holes from #4
6- Prime and paint base in red enamel OR use the same tile as backsplash on this area, depending on cost.
7- Have handyman paint kitchen
I will also be having the living room painted.
and then on to the final phase:
