HM training notes - Saturday 7-miler

Saturday, February 22, 2014

I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful morning to get in my 7 mile training run! Saturdays are my long distance training days where I head to the hills. My first challenge is "Water Tank Climb" - my goal is to walk less and less of the 200ft climb each week (in 0.4 miles my elevation increase 200ft - I'll have to calculate that slope later, but it's pretty steep!)

Run stats: 7.40 miles in 1:18:55; avg pace 10:40; total climb - 891 ft. I miscalculated where to turn around and ended up running a bit more than 7 miles. I did check my time at 7.0 miles and I was at 1:15.

I feel so blessed to live in such a beautiful location that allows me to leave my house and head straight out on trails! This pic is from my turn-around spot looking back over my neighborhood.

Tomorrow is a non-running day and I plan to get in lots of kettlebell training :)

I can see a couple of water tanks from my back yard (between Walmart and the Summit Christian Church) just off Pyramid. That's not the same tanks is it? The pic doesn't like like it would be, but it's up a hill!

Awesome that you can run trails right from your house.

    200 feet in .4 miles, that's almost a 10% grade - yeah, that's steep!
