Goal Board Reviewing

Thursday, February 20, 2014

On my Start page I have set up my goals under the section Goal Board Check-In. Every morning as part of my routine I click the button that "I Reviewed My Goal Board". The thing is….most days I don’t review it. I click the button so I can get my points and go on my merry way. HAD I been reviewing it I would have noticed that instead of putting “I will get InTENTIONAL cardio 4 days a week” I put I InterNATIONAL cardio. emoticon Say what? What is even international cardio? Running from country to country? LOL

Were my goals on my Goal Board empty goals? Were they not even applicable to what I am doing, to what my actual goal is? I don't think SP’s reason for putting that goal board on our Start page was so everyone could just get some points in (well maybe…I did). I needed to rethink why I was putting what I was putting there and then actually REVIEW it every morning. Otherwise I would be at a goal board avoidance meeting standing up and saying… “My name is Jeannie and I am a clicker. I click to just get the SP points.” emoticon

We have goals, all of us, but we need the steps to achieve those goals. For the majority of us they do not just happen. We have to work for them. We have to make plans and set up small steps to be successful. We need to think about what we need to do to get to that goal. Not all of us can follow the same path. We have to do things our way. SP makes it easier for us by having that Goal Board right there for us. emoticon

I reviewed my goals this morning and I think I have some good ones there. I have long range goals and some “you should be doing this every day” type goals. ALL attainable. Some I even do every day. I just have to keep at them and keep plugging away every day. But to help me out I need to LOOK at these goals and steps EVERY day so I do not lose sight of what I want…to lose weight and lead a healthy lifestyle. No more mindless clicking!!! emoticon

Guilty as charged on many days!

Mine is a set of statements I borrowed from another sparker: "Only I can control what goes in my mouth" is one. I promise I will no longer be a mindless clicker either. Thanks for calling us out on it!

I have been a clicker too. One day I clicked the button and the image on the goal board caught my eye. It had a purple and pink background, my DDs' favorite colors, and read "I want to be able to play with my kids" That was an eye opener because I had really lost sight of many of the things that motivated me to get started.
I'm a clicker no more! The points don't matter nearly as much as my goals and motivating factors do!

LOL I was just a clicker today too!

I do say 9 out of 10 days I do read all of my goals!

I like to change them up at the beginning of each month too to spice things up.

I did have to chuckle at the "interNATIONAL" typo. Ooops. emoticon

Tsk, tsk, I'm afraid I'm going to have to turn you in to the SP Goal Board Avoidance Committee for sanctioning, Jeannie. It's just gone too far.

Seriously, you make a good point. We all give the "yeah, yeah" nod to our goals most days, and we all might do a bit better actually reaching those goals if we paid them true attention. Beck has you review your Advantages Response card daily. As in every day, so that you keep at the forefront of your mind what you're working toward. Same principle as the SP goal review board, but for some reason it appeals to me--probably because I had to write the darned thing and set my priorities around it!

Great blog. Loved the International cardio. Sounds like a new Olympic event!
