Walking Plan 2014 update

Tuesday, February 18, 2014

It's been over 6 weeks already! I can't believe it. The plan has been working great! One family joined us immediately. The kids quickly got use to the routine and the daily expectation of walking. We started bringing soccer balls too to work on skills or play soccer afterwards. Several weeks into it, another family joined us. Interestingly, over time, the group has gotten more consistent. We only missed 2 days in the 6 weeks and they both were due to inclement weather (1 of the days, the schools actually closed due to weather). On those days, I walked at home to Walk Away the Pounds. My son joined me. =)

Additionally, I had another friend approach me about walking. She couldn't join us for our walking group however we made weekly date to walk the bridge and kept our dates.

We did the community bridge walk as a family! My husband committed to joining us. However the day before the walk, my daughter sprained her ankle, so we were one family member short.

Forming the walking group was well worth it. We are still walking. I continued to walk through winter without paying any gym fees, my children joined me, we completed the community bridge walk and I had some great company!

Thank you for your kind words and support! I was happy to just create a routine, bring the kids along, mix it up a little, get some support & continue walking through the winter months! =) We did have 2 end goals - keeping the kids in shape for the upcoming soccer season and completing the Bridge Walk as a family.

What a great idea! I don't have anyone around here to invite, but DH and I take the dog and sometimes a grandchild to walk. I'm just getting restarted (again) so am not pushing myself too hard. Congratulations on your success!
