Today I have to look at myself, and my progress.
Blood Sugar Readings: I made it through Christmas and my birthday with no major binges. I stayed on trace, and I am so happy about it! Now I am starting to get readings of 90, and this is where I want to be. This is considered a healthy blood sugar level.
Eating: My diet is clean, and I am eating salad every lunch and supper. Only on special occasions do I splurge. No food is forbidden, but my tastes have changed, so that I do not want to eat unhealthy food. As Spring comes, I am able to grow my own veggies and herbs. My diet is even better in warm weather.
Exercise: I am getting in plenty of walking, snow shoe trips, and a few XC ski trips. I am doing lots of deep breathing, and when spring comes, I will be ready for some good hiking of bigger peaks. Also, we start camping. The fresh air is so relaxing!
Work: My teaching is getting easier, and I am enjoying my students more as I gain confidence. I am not under contract, so I will be looking for a different job for September. There are no guarantees.
Children: I want more time with my grandkids! Baby Lina is growing too quickly, and I am praying for another trip to see her. My grandkids in Maine are also growing, changing, and I get to see them often.
Sleep: I am getting 8 hours 7 out of every 8 nights. That is pretty good for me.
Spirituality: I enjoy my church, and Christian friends. I find that my hikes are great times of contemplation and listening to God speak to my heart. I am growing spiritually, and I love sharing my growth in my blogs.
Improvements: I have Type 2 Diabetes, and will continue to learn about it, and to monitor my blood sugar on a daily basis. The more I learn, the more motivated I am to eat well, rest well, and keep on moving!
