Feb 15, 2014- Happiness

After finishing last week on a very rough note. Last night into today let me know that I am loved. For many many people being single on Valentine's day really sucks. Even for many people even if they have a partner it isn't much of a holiday.

This year I was proactive and asked a friend of mine to dinner for the holiday so neither of us had to spend the day alone. What started as a dinner and movies via Netflix date morphed into a night at a hotel with bowling and keeping him company for a little gambling and then meeting up with several others for late drinks and relaxation. When he brought me home just after noon today, I realized that I had just had the best valentines 'date' that I have ever had. As my friend is gay I didn't have to worry about any of the common 'date' expectations when a guy does the romantic date plans. But, I had an attentive date who gave me a wonderful hug and a kiss on the cheek before we both went to bed. He brought me chocolates and a bottle of wine when he came to pick me up.

So for all those out there who didn't have the best Day, whether it is Valentines day or not. Don't be afraid to reach out. Maybe one of your best memories will come from an unexpected place or person or doing something you wouldn't usually do.

For tonight, I am thanking God for bringing this friend into my life. He is a wonderful gift who loves me despite my faults, who has held me when I cried and laughed with me and at me when I get silly and make a fool of myself.
