Thought and Prayer for Saturday, February 15, 2014

Let’s face it. It is hard to love some people. Depending on their attitudes, their actions and their words, it would be easier just to leave them alone to do whatever they wanted rather than to show love and be susceptible to being humiliated by them. God doesn’t tell us to ignore the rude, stay away from those with rotten attitudes or be mean to those who are mean to us. He tells us to love. We should have the courage to love others despite what they do to us. In all things, we are to show and to share God’s love.

1 John 4:7-8 “Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, we pray You will help us to love those who are hard to love. We pray You will show us how to share Your love and have the courage to love others, despite what they do or say to us. We know that love does not fear but gets rid of fear. We know if we are afraid to love that there is something we need to change in our own hearts. Change us so that we are more loving to others and not afraid to love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

When we show courage to love those who are hard to love, God will help us to help them.

Those who are hard to love have reasons for the wrong actions. God wants us to love them and help them.

When we avoid those who are hard to love, we are giving up on what God wants us to do.

Loving others who are hard to love is only easy when we allow God to show His love through us.

Love does not fear anything. Love only helps and builds up others.

1 John 4:18 “Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.” (NLT)
