Saved by the Snow...

It's been over a month since I blogged. We had a slew of small problems, that wouldn't have interested anyone else, but together took up all my free time. I'm not as prolific as some of my Spark-Friends, but I'm going to try for at least a blog entry a week.

Anyway, on to today's episode:

We had some pretty rough weather yesterday and overnight. The result was that I spent over three hours shoveling heavy wet snow on Valentine's Day morning. Good thing though because I'd promised to cook Judith a special Valentine's meal and I wanted it to be a bit more indulgent than our usual fare.

I track all my food and most of my exercise very faithfully and I think I have a pretty good handle on what I can eat and still progress toward my goal. I was sure today would be an exception because in addition to my usual breakfast and Greek yogurt for lunch, I had half an almond chocolate bar, two servings of Häagen-Dazs Rum Raisin ice-cream, 16 oz. wine, 10 oz. chuck steak, 4 pats of butter, half an acorn squash, 2 servings of Quinoa, two slices of French peasant bread and a boatload of grilled peppers, onions, and mushrooms. I'm sure I missed a couple items, but with the alleged 1400+ calories burned shoveling snow, I was surprised to come in around a thousand calories under my SparkPeople Nutrition Log goal (Calories My Goal – 3138-3488 Today – 2330) and only 3 grams over my fat goal. Everything else was spot on.

So no guilt over the hedonistic dinner and maybe a tiny increase in the guns' diameter.

Tomorrow is my birthday and it's Judith's turn to make me a special dinner. She is cooking lasagna. In the morning, I'd better break out the shovel and start moving the snow banks apart.
