(I am taking a cue from Deadmau5 for my blog title today.)

Yikes! I haven't written since Monday. That's so unlike me.

I had a visit with a health practitioner associated with a new health food store that just opened up about a mile from my house (so, walking distance -- in fact I did walk there one day). She is qualified to order thyroid tests for me if I choose to go through her, but she does not qualify for it to be free under our standard provincial health insurance. I would have to pay for the tests.

However, it might be worth the money not to have to go through the hassle of making an appointment with my doctor and waiting two hours in the waiting room then have to ask him if he will order the tests, and run the risk of him making me feel the tests are unnecessary.

So I still have a few days to think about that one.

The new doctor, who is qualified to practice Chinese medicine, has recommended I try Rhodiola (an herbal supplement) to help with my fatigue. So far I haven't noticed much difference, but I haven't been taking it that long.

The big thing for me right now is the changes they have slipped in to SP on the Start page. The friend feed automatically "opts in" to broadcast your tracked activity and also show you all your friends' tracked activity.

I suppose they did this so you would know to go and check your settings so that you can find out about other changes they have now made. But something they overlooked in the page redesign was forgetting to display your status on the Start page. You can still change it there (they left that change box) but they removed the line(s) of code (or visible field) responsible for DISPLAYING the status. So you can't tell what you have changed your status to.

(Unless it is only happening on MY start page, but I can't see how that would happen. Though it could be specific to one browser or operating system, I guess. Maybe I should make sure I have all my browser updates installed.)

I'm with you on the changes Spark has made. Like IT everywhere, I don't think they beta tested with actual users. (Forgive me, IT. I know whatever goes wrong is my fault.)

I've found a couple of times in my life that paying for a test makes perfect sense. Although getting you doctor to run a thyroid test shouldn't be a biggie. The question is, what will be the result of knowing? If your doctor is the person who can take steps to correct a problem, by all means go through your doc. Just saying ...
