Day 3 of the Gym and food reform

emoticon Don't let the emoticon fool you, I don't run, at least not yet. I don't believe my knees will support the abuse just yet, they hurt enough with having to deal with the frigid temperatures that keep plaguing the North-East. But not even the cold will stop me. I have always gone for a lunch-time walk, no matter the weather and today was no exception. It was a balmy 26ยบ and I walked for half an hour with snow boots, a winter coat and a 6lb purse (messenger bag)! emoticon

emoticon Made it to the gym again today after work. I even skipped dinner to make it to the 7pm zumba class that I was so anxious to attend. It was a total let-down. The class must be the one with the best attendance because I haven't seen any of the others with that many students. But holey cow was it a train wreck. It had energy and the more seasoned students seemed to love the instructor but I found the routines very hard to follow.

emoticonThe instructor would just start dancing, no warm up - straight to hyper speed. Once you caught on to the step, like around the second time she did it, she would abruptly change not only the step but the entire direction! I tried to chalk it up to it being my first time and that I haven't done zumba in awhile but nothing can excuse the abrupt changes without warning or even the changes not happening in time to the music.

emoticonAnd before anyone can ask, what do I know about, yes I sort of do. I help run a folkloric dance group and my very first zumba classes was with someone that was learning the ropes of becoming an instructor. Add to that the fact that I have watched many zumba videos and the best ones are not done in warp speed. I honestly gave up 45 minutes in and walked out to go work on the machines. Today was all about the legs!

emoticonI have religiously tracked all of my fitness, with the added help of my trusty little fitbit one and all of my food. My food was never going to catch up with the amount of added calories that my fitness tracker and the gym time handed back to me. According to the tracker I still have one whole day left of eating to do!

Calories In & Out
Base Goal (no fitness) 1200 - 1550
Plus Fitness Tracked + 1418
Minus Eaten Today - 1170
Equals Calories Remaining Today 1448 - 1798

All in all I am very proud of myself and I can't wait till tomorrow! I have to get more gym time in before the snowstorm hits our area again this Thursday! #endwinternow !

With Love, the future me! emoticon ♥ox

Its called Tinkus, its from Bolivia, a country in South America.

I don't dance it, at least not yet, and I really don't lead it, I volunteer my time (a lot of it lol) but I have been with this dance fraternity since 2009 and I am familiar with other types of dances from this country and all the hard work that goes into choreographing the steps.

Hope you stocked up on the necessities in case you get snowed in! Keeping fingers crossed that it doesn't hit too hard! Keep warm and dry! emoticon

Ugh, another storm....not sure what it will bring us out here in Suffolk.

I don't think I could ever do zumba, I can't follow dance steps at all. I had to do a few months of PT in the fall when my knee got bad, before I could embark on a fitness program. I actually stayed a member at the PT group in an aftercare program so I can go there, say hi to the therapy team and use their equipment to do my stuff.

What kind of folkloric dance do you lead? Sounds interesting.

Keep up the good work, it will pay off in good time.
