OK fine, I'll admit it, I weigh myself on a daily basis. I know everyone says not to, but I do it anyway and have for years. I know that you can really mess with your head by doing so, like on those days when you feel like you've been doing everything right, only to get on the scale and have it flip you off and instead of showing you a number it just says, "GET OFF," yeah, I get it. But on the days when you get on the scale and it shows you a number you weren't expecting...a number lower than you were even hoping...those days make it worth it for me.

If you read my last blog you know that I was going out to dinner with my husband for our anniversary last night and that it was a little stressful for me because I didn't want to derail my progress by splurging too much too soon. But two amazing things happened from my experience last night:

1. During dinner, for the first time that I can remember (at a restaurant anyway), I actually noticed that I was starting to feel full, and decided right then and there to stop eating. Normally a delicious high-end dinner is too much for me to pass up and I will devour everything on my plate before anyone can say, "You're done already?" But last night was different...and then...
2. When I got on the scale this morning I expected it to have gone up some, and I was mentally prepared for that to happen. But when I stepped on that obnoxious little frenemy scale of mine, the number it flashed was actually lower than the day before. HOT DIGGITY DOG!

So I guess my point is this...weigh yourself every day, don't weight yourself every day, I don't think it really matters one way or another. What matters is that you listen to both your body and the New You inside of you who wants you to be healthy and happy. The scale does not define you...YOU DO!

    My names Danielle too :) I used to weigh daily but decided it demotivated me. Now I weigh just twice a month. I think every person needs to find what will work for them and run with it. Congrats on the success of a night out!!

    Haha My name is Chakara and I am a daily weigher too. Some days I love it, some days I hate it. (If I really hate it, I check again in an hour lol)
    I do try to focus on the changes that I am seeing. The feeling full when we eat out is the big one. I always think, "How much did I used to eat?!" I am stuffed before I am even half way done. But my clothes are looser and random people are starting to notice. (which can be sort of obnoxious) All of these things motivate me when the scale is being a jerk.

    Yay for restraint! Stopping when you start to get full can be hard because when the food tastes so good, you really don’t want to quit until you reach the “you’ll have to roll me out of the restaurant” stage. But you did it! Win!

    And if watching that scale like a hawk works for you, then that’s what you do. As long as you don’t live or die by the number that pops up! Trick is to figure out what time of day you usually weigh the least and only get on the scale at that time. LOL
