tough week

Wednesday, February 05, 2014

This has been a hard week so far. I have a big assignment due in my class on Sunday and I'm fighting that urge to obsess about it. I know I can do it. I've begun the work toward doing it. But it stays on my mind. Meantime, I'm totally exhausted. I get up in the morning and it's like I barely slept. I've spent the last few days fighting that urge to go back to bed, fall asleep at my desk, or eat incessantly to keep my brain energized. Monday I gave in to the extra cup of coffee. While that didn't hurt me so much, it isn't a long term answer.

The exhaustion means that I don't want to make dinner by the time the family gets home. I have my plans made-but I'm just too tired.

I am hoping that tonight I can get enough done before they come home to feel like it's not that much work to actually *cook* it. We're supposed to have Hawaiian chicken burgers. If I make the patties in advance, then the rest should be easy. As long as I'm awake enough to do the first part.

I need to make an appt with my doc for today anyway, to check out the ear pain I've been having for five days now. I might have to ask her again about the sleep study she had wanted me to do. It might be time to do it.

So, in an effort to keep myself focused, here's the plan for the rest of the week:

Wed night:
Hawaiian chicken burgers
fries for the others, baby carrots for me
salad for everyone
* Make one extra for lunch on Thursday

Thursday night:
Pulled pork bbq in the slow cooker
Salad-made in advance!
Steamed broccoli and corn for sides
* Save a portion for lunch on Friday

Friday night:
Chicken and broccoli stir-fry w/Italian seasonings
brown rice
* save a portion for lunch on Saturday

Saturday night:
Baked lemon chicken and mushrooms
Homemade mac and cheese
Steamed vegetables

Saturday afternoon: Make broccoli soup and carrot soup for next week.

Sunday lunch:
grilled cheese and soup

Sunday night:
Slow cooker pot roast

Groceries: bread, frozen vegetables, sliced pineapple, mushrooms, beef roast, 2 russet potatoes

Thanks for the well wishes! The one thing I seem to be able to control is whether I make dinner. Which dictates how I feel later. So I might as well do it, right? How's your menu looking this week?

Thanks Golfgma! In fact, you are right on the money. I called the doc as soon as I finished the blog yesterday and they had an opening 15 minutes later (on campus at work, so easy commute). I got in and she confirmed-a sinus infection! I thought it would be an ear infection, but this makes sense. It's been going on for over a month, so no wonder I'm so tired! Too bad she didn't prescribe some bedrest-I could use it! I should be able to pick up the antibiotics today to get this under control.

Maybe the ear pain is coming from infection? I get sinus infections that create pain behind my ears every winter. If you have infection it can cause the tiredness. I would call the doctor before the pain worsens.
    Hang in there! emoticon
