Thank you so much! One of my goals is to overcome my emotional reasons for eating - this looks like being very helpful.

So glad you enjoyed the book/concept..I can tell you it works...I babysat last night for my daughter and I ALWAYS raid her cupboards even if I'm not hungry to the point of eating 1/2 of bag of chips, snacks, etc.

BUT, I applied the concept with....I thought oh boy, I know what happens when I go there..I binge on her snacks....etc. that this process is a joke, etc.

WELL, when the thoughts came I said, yup addictive voice from the part of my brain that has been programmed by my past experiences...neurological junk..I didn't fight it, I acknowledged and said thanks but not thanks "gently to myself" AND that thought/urge disappeared without my paying attention...even when I saw pound cake, acknowleged the urge, said thanks but not thanks..and it past without my even realizing it.

WHEN we understand where this comes from and we don't try to exert willpower as using willpower only makes this pattern and urge stronger..understand that it comes from a part of the brain that we don't need to act on.....KEEP in mind she does not say go and fight the urge by finding something else to do, like take a bath, read, etc. just gently acknowledge it and set it free basically...

    The book explains brilliantly..

p.s. Chris..when you go to edit your post at the top one of the choices is to add pictures, links, etc...if you go to the PDF, highlight the link and click right click "copy" come back to spark - select "link" past in the box that pops up - save..it will actually past the link..only if you want to of course :)

Everyone, you can download and save as well. I have her podcasts but she did not give permission..I'll email her and ask...SHE even responds to my email questions...very nice person!

Sorry! Copying and pasting failed to call up the appropriate page. Googling "Fighting the urge dr. amy johnson" got me to a page where I can get 3 mp3 downloads and a 23-page book for $37.

Edit: using that copy and paste and doing a Google search got a hit for a .pdf document that is the booklet. I hope that helps everyone else!

The link isn't working for me either. I went to her website as an alternative, but couldn't find the ebook there...

(Thanks for trying to share it with us though. :) )

Couldn't get the link to work either --- would you mind posting it as a link so we don't have to cut/paste - that might make it work for everyone --- it sounds like a great book to read - thank you for sharing!
