Where's My Bagel?
Friday, January 31, 2014
Do you ever argue with yourself? I've been finding that I argue with myself a lot lately. For instance, this morning's argument while I was getting ready for work went something like this...
Hungry D: I'm hungry!
Healthy D: Me too! Let's pack some oatmeal to make at work for breakfast.
Hungry D: Phooey [the actual word used was not fit for public forum] on oatmeal, I want our favorite Pesto Cheddar Bagel with lots of cream cheese!
Healthy D: But we've been doing so good, you don't want to throw that all away do you? Oatmeal is better for us and it will keep us satisfied longer.
Hungry D: Did I stutter? I want a bagel. Yes we have been good, we can afford to be bad every now and again.
Healthy D: In a perfect world, yes, but you know our history. We do good for a while and have some success and then we start thinking we can stray from the plan and before you know it we're right back where we started.
Hungry D: Why do you hate fun?
Healthy D: Oh good grief. I tell you what, I'll compromise. If we pack our own reduced fat cream cheese and only eat half of the bagel, then we can have it. Deal?
Hungry D: Deal!
Healthy D: Just don't come crying to me when you're hungry an hour later.
So I stopped at the bagel shop this morning...they no longer carry my favorite bagel. Neither D was pleased. But at least that's one argument we won't have to have again.
