Learning from the Experience and Insight of Others

Thursday, January 30, 2014

For those of us who deal with depression friends can be lifesavers. I read a blog this morning that made me think about how my days have been going. I encourage anyone who reads this to also read ON2VICTORY's blog. Robert has a series of blog entries that make a lot of sense. Today's entry is Recovery from Setbacks - My Survival Kit. I especially like what he said about how "the banana that leaves the bunch is the one that gets peeled." Winter can be isolating especially the one we are having so far! If the weather keeps you housebound it is important to make and keep your friendships going strong. Spark People helps me do this as well as calling and emailing my closest friends and maintaining those relationships. FB gives me glimpses of the things my distant children and grandchildren are doing as well as friends and family far away or working. FaceTime and Skype bring them even closer. Illness and recuperation involve taking time to heal, and without a firm structure of friends, doctors, nurses, and therapists a physical condition can spiral one into depression. Take care and be mindful to regain your health and to enjoy overall wellness. Thanks, Robert for making me "think" this morning!
