I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to review Coach Nicole's 28 Day Boot Camp DVD.
By being selected to do this, I received the DVD for free, and who doesn't like free?
I will start this by saying I personally can not do any high impact exercise. I have arthritis in my knees and 2 screws in my left ankle... so anything with jumping is out. But not everyone has these issues, everyone is different! This is an overview of the DVD.
The DVD is broken down into different parts: Warm-Up, Cardio Burst, Short Cardio-Sculpt, Tone & Burn, Total Body Challenge & Cool Down. It gives you the option to play all, pick your workout or follow Coach Nicole's 28 day plan. It shows the calendar and you can select what day you are on and it will give you the assigned workout. So anyone that enjoys doing a structured plan and not having to guess at what exercises they should do that day, would enjoy this aspect. :)
The Cardio Burst has some "dance" type moves, grapevines and mambo steps, but it is definitely not a dance DVD. Some of the other moves in this segment were kick boxing type moves, and lots of squats and lunges.
The Cardio-Sculpt segment utilizes small dumbbells. She does a good job at making sure you are working the upper and lower body.
The Tone & Burn segement is a blend of strength training and cardio, again using the dumbbells. There are some moves that require balance, but they do have modifiers if you aren't as graceful as Coach Nicole, I'm sure not.
Overall, this DVD is not for me, but that doesn't mean it's not for you. Everyone is different, and with my specific issues and needs, this DVD isn't the one for me. There are a ton of squats and lunges, which are outstanding exercises but something I try to avoid because of my arthritic knees. What I did like about the dvd was the modifiers.... they have someone doing beginner moves and someone doing advanced moves, that way you can build up. I like the 28 day plan and that it is so easy to follow, and I also think Coach Nicole is super adorable. I am required to say: "I received this DVD for free from Spark People and did not receive any form of payment for my review."
If you are interested in this DVD it is available at Walmart, and you will receive 250 Spark Points if you purchase by January 31st. (Sorry I'm coming down to the wire posting that part)
Now that my "business" here is done, I hope you have a fabulous day!
