My (small) Progress Updates!

Monday, January 27, 2014

Hey everyone,

Brittney here! Happy Monday..... :-)

So, in the past few weeks I have found out that it takes more than just words to get myself up and to the gym.

I spent the first week doing a couple of fitness videos at home, but would get tired in about 20 minutes and would find myself back to the comfortable couch in 10 seconds flat when it became uncomfortable. This is one of the reasons why I know that I need to go to the gym, because it's alot harder for me to justify giving up there than it is at home.

I have been having a hard time getting on SP every day to check in and track fitness, etc. I am a pretty bad procrastinator, and also pretty darn busy being a full-time student with 2 jobs, so it always seems to become the elusive "later"....

But, every time I would log into my email, I would see something from the site - someone adding me to their friends, someone sending me an encouraging word, someone just wanting to make sure I was being accountable. I still would rarely get on the site in the past 2 weeks, but seeing those emails definitely helped to lift me up.

I have worked on my strategy, because as it turns out I didn't end up going to the gym for the first time until yesterday - yep, DAY 17!!! I would beat myself up about it, but my sore legs and stomach tell me they're happy that I decided to go no matter when I did.

I left the gym, as always, feeling so much better than when I had walked in - for me, it's not the working out that's tough (even though the Brittney sweating through those last 5 minutes of cardio would say MUCH differently), but rather finding the energy, time, and commitment to walk through the doors.

A good friend of mine, Bailey, and I have come up with a strategy. We both go to the same evening class, ending at 8:20, and she decided she was going to get a gym membership to my gym (completely out of her way) so we can keep each other accountable and go to the gym 2x a week after school is over. I'm excited to see how this turns out, and I am very hopeful that this will help me continue to get more consistent and productive when it comes to my exercise time.

Also, I have to give a major thanks to GOD for last night - I went to church at 7:30 p.m. and passed the gym on my way home. A fleeting thought went through my head about wanting to go, but I didn't have anything to wear - that is, until I remembered the gym bag I just happened to put in my car last week with my tennis shoes, headphones, and gym clothes. He always knows what I need, way before even I do! :-)

I have not weighed myself yet at all, but I think I will tonight - I'm not planning to see a change, but if there is I'll be happily surprised. ;-)

Love y'all!!

-Britt

I know you a busy but make your health a priority. I had the same issue so made a time budget. I dont always stick to it but I don't procrastinate as much.

I definitely understand the elusive "later...." I have 2 jobs and was doing school full time (took this semester off) and it is definitely tough! Glad to hear that those SP emails helped out :) Best of luck dear!
