The Price of a T-Shirt

Friday, January 24, 2014

We - ah, yes, the generic "we"! - take so much for granted.
Even when we try to not do so, this happens.
Let's face it, there are so many issuesand concerns in this crazy world that one simply cannot simultaneously dwell on all the important matters. We subconsciously filter through the maze of facts of this life to focus on the few that touch our lives and/or our hearts.

The T-Shirt.

I have of course - haven't you? - thought of the simple everyday items in my home, on my person. Where did this come from? Who made it? And more such thoughts.

The following two - especially the second, with the first being merely an introduction - videos are merely presented via this blog for thought.

When I feel like complaining of my lot in life, I can just think of the thoughts I had while viewing that second of the videos. I share not to present something depressing, but to perhaps lend substance to feel gratitude that our problems may not be as large as they seem at some given moment. Because. We are the ones wearig the t-shirts.

So many gems on Upworthy...can't keep up with them all!

The Bangladesh shirt makers are acutely aware that the slightest wiff of workers who will take less pay than themselves will result in a mass exodus of business to that new country. They are in SUCH a tough position!

This leaves us, the consumers, to take action: for pennies more per shirt we can make SUCH a difference! Speak up to retailers and manufacturers!
