More than a number(on the scale)

Saturday, January 18, 2014

Ugh...I have such a love/hate relationship with my scale. I know that I am more than the number on it but yet, that number makes or breaks my day.

I made a New Year's resolution, which I don't normally do, to do weight AND measurements every Wednesday morning. I have stayed true to that resolution and noticed that my weight may not change, much, my measurement do. Since January 1st, I have only lost 3lbs but lost 6 inches(total) from my chest, waist and hips.

I wish I could convince myself that number doesn't matter. What matters is how my clothes fit, how I feel about myself and most important is that I am a good role model for my 13 year old daughter and 11 year old son. Neither one of them care what I weigh, they care that Mom runs marathons and they will get to go to Boston next time I go.

Hopefully, through this, I will see that it isn't only the scale that tells the story but the inches tell more of the story.

I understand about the love/hate relationship with the scale. I don't weigh often just because I don't want the scale determining how I feel about myself for the rest of the day, week, whatever! But, I gotta say, three pounds in 19 days is a good weight loss! You should be proud of that! I am for you!

I would say just keep training, and let your weight be what it needs to be. Do you have a trainer? What does he/she say about your weight?
