RIP Meg. You have been a true inspiration.

People often ask me why I like to run. Here is one reason why. The other day I was notified through a running buddy that a fellow running buddy (one neither of us knew personally, but shared a common passion) was killed by a drunk driver on her morning run. So the word went out. Today more than 84,000 runners (myself included) across the world got together virtually and ran our miles in her honor and to raise awareness of drunk driving, texting and driving, and overall safety of runners and cyclists everywhere. This is why. Because even though I cannot see all my running buddies face to face, I know they are there cheering me on.

I'm sorry about the runner ... What a tragedy. It was nice of you and so many thousands of other runners to do this in her honor!

I'm sorry to hear about the runner. That is awful. It was wonderful of you and the other 84,000+ runners that ran in her honor though. What a great way to remember a fellow runner.
