January challenge: Winter Wellness

Right now, I'm failing on this challenge, so I'm going to have to start blogging to make myself accountable. I love these challenges, but I'm five days behind on this one. I try to do them in order, but sometimes am tempted to check off the ones that don't require exercise, because I usually do those all the time anyway.
But to get specific..... the challenge I haven't addressed yet is "10 smart ways to Burn More Calories." I'll come back and report when I've read the article and finished the exercise.
The two I've chosen to do are "Focus" and "Don't Work Too Hard." I do need to focus better. I ponder about a million things when I either do yoga (which erases the good meditative effect of yoga) or other exercises. The "Don't Work Too Hard" addresses my consistency. I will neglect exercise for several days then try to catch up by doing too many minutes in one day. I got away with that when I was younger, but now it plays havoc with my joints.
End of Day: I did 20 minutes on the elliptical, and helped my concentration by doing interval workout. My first "all-out" effort was 1 minute to get my heart going, the subsequent ones were 15 seconds at a time, waiting a full minute till the next one. Twenty minutes goes fast when I'm playing games like that. My second exercise was indoor walking, while I walked around the house putting things away. I put real effort into this, borrowing ideas for Leslis Sansone's "Walking Away the Pounds" videos, even having about 15 minutes or so using weights. It's an interesting exercise unloading the washer while doing side-to-side kneelifts! I'm glad there are no hidden cameras in my house.
