Went in today for an interview at work for a promotion to head (or lead) of a department in my store. I knew going in that I was well liked and thought highly of regarding my work performance. I also knew that of the candidates I knew of applying for the position in Kids, I was not the strongest candidate in that my experience is primarily with hardlines areas, not softlines. The store manager told me that I will be a lead, and that she has Shoes in mind for me. The current lead in Shoes is the one I expect will get the Kids job. So if she moves over, her position in Shoes opens up. So, I am encouraged that it is quite likely I will get a promotion in the next couple of months. While I am technically part-time right now, I work usually 25-35 hours per week in various hardlines departments, special projects and in Visual (mannequins, big signs in store, displays). Being officially full-time means a pay raise, guaranteed hours and benefits - translating hopefully to some peace of mind and the means to eventually work on paying down debt.
